Kesler Explains Why the Leafs Lose Every Year

Ryan Kesler was not shy about sharing his opinion on the why the Toronto Maple Leafs lose in the first round every year. He was a guest on Sekeres & Price podcast (Matt Sekeres and Blake Price were on TSN 1040 in Vancouver prior to the change in format).

Kesler said, "If you want to win, leave some [money] on the table..." Full interview linked below:

In the interview, Kesler refers to teammates taking pay cuts in Vancouver and Anaheim to make long runs into the playoffs. He talks about the lack of bridge deals more recently, and the need to use extra cap space to get solid supporting players.

Kesler himself never won a Stanley Cup, but he came excruciatingly close in Vancouver going to a Game 7 of the Final in 2011. His Anaheim Ducks teams also made deep runs in 2015 & 2017.
