Mike Ribeiro, who played close to 1100 regular season games in the NHL, is facing some serious charges in the state of Texas. A report from The Dallas Morning News states Ribeiro was indicted on two accounts of sexual assault on April 13th stemming from alleged incidents that took place at his property north of Dallas last June.

The court documents allege Ribeiro assaulted two women, one with his finger and the other with his "sexual organ." He was arrested on April 28th and released on a $200,000 bond on the same day.

Nothing else is known about these charges at this time. However, Ribeiro has been accused of sexual assault before. A former nanny sued him in 2015 alleging she was sexually assaulted by Ribeiro when she helped the family move while she was 18 years old. The lawsuit was settled after eight hours of mediation.

Ribeiro was taken by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the NHL entry draft in 1998. After six seasons there, he spent another six with the Dallas Stars. He also did stints with the Washington Capitals, Phoenix Coyotes and Nashville Predators before retiring in 2017. Ribeiro struggled with alcoholism throughout his NHL career. Because of that, and other behavioral issues, he was bought out of the final three years of a four-year contract with the Coyotes in 2014.
