Calgary defenseman Rasmus Andersson and Stars defenseman John Klingberg were both issued game misconducts and effectively tossed from the game at the end of the 1st period during Tuesday night's game one contest in Alberta.

Following a big hit by Matthew Tkachuk on Klingberg, a fight ensued between Tkachuk and Michael Raffl. At the very same whistle stoppage, Klingberg challenged Andersson. At first Andersson hesitated, but then obliged Klingberg in a punch-in-the-face contest. Due to this altercation, both players were issued five-minute majors for fighting and game misconducts due to a "secondary fight."

This rule, nestled under Fighting in the rule book states, "Any player that fights after another fight has already happened between two other players at the same stoppage shall be issued an automatic game misconduct."

This same rule was instituted during last night's Lightning/ Maple Leaf game, where several players were issued game misconducts due to the line brawl in the 3rd period.
