After 17 years in the National Hockey League, all with the Anaheim Ducks, Ryan Getzlaf announced earlier this month that he will be retiring at the end of the season.

The Ducks plan to honour their long-time captain on Sunday as he skates in his 1,157th and final game in the National Hockey League.

Anaheim goaltender John Gibson took it upon himself to pay tribute to his long-time teammate by getting a new mask made that features pictures of Getzlaf on the side and a big 'C' on the back panel. The back panel also has the names of Getzlaf's wife and four children as well as the logo of the Calgary Hitmen, who he played four seasons with in the WHL.

Ducks head coach Dallas Eakins announced that Gibson will get the start on Sunday for Getzlaf's final game, so we'll get to see this mask in action very soon.

Getzlaf's final game in the National Hockey League is set for 8 p.m. ET and can be viewed nationally across Canada on Sportsnet360.
