The San Jose Sharks announced on Thursday that they've agreed to terms on a one-year contract with 2021-22 SHL goal scoring leader and Canadian Olympian Max Veronneau. Sharks beat writer Curtis Pashelka is reporting that Veronneau's contract is a two-way deal and worth $750,000.

"Max had a great season this year in Europe, leading the Swedish Hockey League in goals and being named the SHL's Most Valuable Player," said Shin Larsson, Sharks Supervisor of European Scouting. "He has produced at every level offensively and previously was an ECAC Champion with Princeton. We look forward to him joining our organization."

The 26-year-old has spent the last two years in Sweden. This season, he played for Leksands IF, where he tallied 60 points (34 goals, 26 assists), fourteen penalty minutes, and was a plus-eighteen.

His strong play during the 2021-22 season drew the attention of Hockey Canada, who named him to their Olympic roster as an alternate for the Winter Games in (Beijing) China.

Veronneau has a little bit of NHL experience dating back to the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons when he played in a total of sixteen games for his hometown Ottawa Senators.
