The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Monday night that Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin has been suspended four games for cross-checking Nashville Predators defenceman Mark Borowiecki.

Malkin and Borowiecki were engaged in a scrum at the end of the second period during Sunday's tilt between Pittsburgh and Nashville, which saw the Penguins forward cross-check the Predators defenceman in the face. Malkin was assessed a four-minute minor for high-sticking, while Borowiecki was given two-minutes for slashing.

The 35-year-old will now miss Pittsburgh's next four games, Tuesday vs the Islanders, Thursday vs the Islanders, Saturday vs the Bruins, and April 21st vs the Bruins. He'll be eligible to return to the Penguins' line-up on Saturday, April 23rd against the Detroit Red Wings.
