Kings announce Doughty out and he won't return for the playoffs

Some tough news for the LA Kings so close to the playoffs, The team has announced that defenceman Drew Doughty is out and won't be returning for the playoffs.

"Defenseman Drew Doughty underwent successful wrist surgery today & will not return this season. He is expected to make a full recovery for next season" - LA Kings"

The Kings are currently in third place in the Pacific Division and are hoping to finish there or in a wild card. It's a race right now with Vegas, Nashville and Dallas all in the mix. Doughty has been having a good season at both ends of the ice for the team with seven goals and 31 points in 39 games. He's missed several due to injury, though. Doughty, 32, has five years after this one left on his contract with a cap hit of $11 million per season.
