New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin broke out of a mini slump on Thursday night as he recorded a thirty-save shutout against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In his ten games before Thursday night, the 26-year-old had a record of 5-4-1 with a 2.88 GAA, and .902 save percentage, but he quickly rebounded against Pittsburgh last night.

"Obviously, the last few games didn't go as planned, and I was really trying to get my grasp on the game," Shesterkin said. "But we'll keep moving forward from there. I'll work with the coaches, and we'll try to move on."

Despite the average/below-average numbers his his prior ten starts, Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant was not worried at all about his star goaltender.

"People were worried about him. I wasn't. He played real well tonight, made some real key saves at key times," he said.

Gallant added, "He's had a so-called 'tough stretch' a little bit lately - more the team for me than it was him. Tonight, he made three or four outstanding saves."

The Moscow (Russia) native has arguably been one of, if not the best, goaltender in the National Hockey League this season and is likely the front-runner for the Vezina Trophy. In 47 games, Shesterkin has a record of 33-10-4, with a 2.10 GAA, a .935 save percentage, and four shutouts.
