Former NHLer Viktor Kozlov lands new KHL head coaching job

After spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach with Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Salavat Yulaev Ufa, former NHLer Viktor Kozlov has found a new head coaching job in the KHL.

According to Russian media outlet, Championat, Kozlov will be named head coach of Salavat Yulaev Ufa.

"As it became known to the "Championship", "Salavat Yulaev" will soon officially announce the appointment of Viktor Kozlov as the head coach of the team. Last season, the 47-year-old Russian specialist worked at the headquarters of the Ufa team as an assistant to Finn Tommy Lamsya."

Kozlov, 47, has previous head coaching experience in the KHL. During the 2017-18 season, he was promoted to head coach with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, but at the end of the season, they brought in Josef Jandac, and reassigned Kozlov to the role of "senior coach".

The Togliatti (Russia) native spent parts of 14 seasons in the National Hockey League with San Jose, Florida, New Jersey, the New York Islanders, and Washington Capitals. In 897 career games, Kozlov tallied 537 points (198 goals, 339 assists).
