The Montreal Canadiens will head out on the road later on Wednesday for a short two-game trip which will see them face the New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs.

In his post-practice press conference, Montreal Canadiens interim head coach Martin St. Louis announced that, while he won't see any game action, star goaltender Carey Price will accompany the team to Newark and Toronto.

"#Habs St-Louis says Price will travel with the team to New Jersey and Toronto. As stated earlier this morning by a team official, Price will not play in either game." TSN's John Lu said in a tweet.

Price, 34, hasn't been between the pipes for the Canadiens since Game five of the 2021 Stanley Cup Final because he's been rehabbing his knee, which he had surgery on over the summer.

The Anahim Lake (British Columbia) native has been ramping up his rehab over the last few weeks, and appears to be really close to getting back in the crease for Montreal. Although he won't play during the two-game road trip, there's still a chance he could be on the bench as the backup.

Price was in the backup net for the majority of practice on Monday, which fueled speculation that he may be on the bench for Tuesday's game against the Ottawa Senators. Instead, Samuel Montembeault backed up Jake Allen during Montreal's 6-3 loss.

Puck drop for Thursday's game against the Devils is set for 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on TSN2 and RDS.
