Back in January, San Jose Barracuda forward Krystof Hrabik was given a 30-game suspension by the American Hockey League for a racial gesture directed at Boko Imama of the Tucson Roadrunners. After having served 28 of those 30 games, the league chose to reinstate him today.

Hrabik made monkey like gestures at Imama, who is a Black hockey player, on Jan. 21. The following day, Hrabik took full responsibility for his actions, saying he was ashamed of himself while issuing a lengthy apology to Imama.

Despite Hrabik's reinstatement, the Barracuda are not expected to bring him back for the remainder of the season. Instead, it is expected he will be re-assigned to the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), though what team that will be remains to be seen as the Sharks do not currently have an ECHL affiliate. Prior to being suspended, Hrabik had a lone goal and five points in 21 games with the Barracuda.
