Canadiens sign high scoring prospect from the QMJHL

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Wednesdsay that they've agreed to terms with prospect Joshua Roy on a three-year, entry-level contract that begins next season.

The contract will see Roy earn a base salary of $750,000 during the 2022-23 season with a signing bonus of $92,500. For the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, Roy will make $775,500 with the same bonus for the second season and an $80,000 bonus for the third and final year.

Roy, 18, was selected by the Canadiens in the fifth round (150th overall) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

In 50 games this season in the QMJHL, the Saint-Georges-de-Beauce (Quebec) native exploded, recording 92 points (36 goals, 56 assists), 12 penalty minutes, and is a plus-36.
