Florida Panthers forward Claude Giroux has taken to Twitter to post a short message to Philadelphia and Flyers fans, but adds that a formal goodbye will be coming eventually.

"I plan to curate a formal goodbye but for now I wanted to acknowledge this change. Philly will always be a major part of me and my family. This picture seemed fitting. Thank you for absolutely everything❤️"

After weeks of speculation, the 34-year-old was dealt to the Florida Panthers on Saturday along with Connor Bunnaman, German Rubtsov, and a fifth round pick in 2024 in exchange for Owen Tippett, a third round pick in 2023, and a conditional first round pick in 2024.

The Hearst (Ontario) native spent parts of fifteen seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers after they drafted him in the first round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. In 1,000 games with the Flyers, Giroux amassed 900 points (291 G, 609 A).

Giroux, along with defenceman Ben Chiarot, are expected to make their Florida Panthers debut on Thursday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal against the Canadiens. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET on TSN2 and RDS.
