With another Trade Deadline come & gone, the NHL's competitive landscape received a hefty makeover. Sellers & buyers, hopeful & hopeless alike, came together in a flurry of last minute deals that ought to make for juicy playoff competition. But with all these deals, how do we discern the winners from the losers? Well we won't know for sure until the playoffs, but what we can do is assess which players give their new teams the best (and worst) chance to win. It is in this regard that two teams excelled compared to the rest: The Minnesota Wild & the Colorado Avalanche.

Let's start with Minnesota:

Key Acquisitions - G Marc-Andre Fleury, D Jacob Middleton, F Tyson Jost, F Nick Deslauriers,

Key Departures - F Nico Sturm, D Jack McBain, G Kaapo Kahkonen, 2023 3rd Round Pick, 2022 2nd Round Pick*

Conditional Pick*

Bill Guerin upgraded his goaltending & his defense, while adding renowned heavyweight Nick Deslauriers & Tyson Jost--known for his defensive prowess--in exchange for Nico Sturm (known for his defensive woes), Jack McBain (unsigned college D), Kaapo Kahkonen (who hasn't been great this season, & a few draft picks. If there was a time to go for it, it is right now considering the impending cap trouble.

Now to Colorado:

Key Acquisitions: F Artturi Lehkonen, F Andrew Cogliano

Key Departures: D Justin Barron, 2024 2nd Round Pick 2024 5th Round Pick

Joe Sakic, on the other hand, may have landed the best deal of the day. Artturi Lehkonen is laughably underrated outside of Montreal & Sakic secured him for a Defenseman who probably wouldn't have made their lineup any time soon and a 2nd Round Pick two years from now. Not bad. Additionally, he added veteran F Cogliano to the mix. The expectations are high for this group, but will they reach them? Vote below!
