After saying just last week the Philadelphia Flyers were looking to move Rasmus Ristolainen, Elliotte Friedman has taken back his claim and is now suggesting the team is looking at extending him.

According to Friedman, the Flyers are worried that if they move Ristolainen, they will be low on NHL caliber defencemen. The 27-year-old, who is in his first season with the Flyers after being acquired in a trade from the Buffalo Sabres this offseason, has 13 points through 45 games this season while averaging nearly 22 minutes in ice time per game.

While the Flyers would like to keep Ristolainen around, however, whether or not he would be interested in signing an extension remains to be seen. He is now 587 games into his NHL career, but has yet to play in a single playoff game. With the Flyers struggles this season, he may wish to hit the free agent market and sign with a more competitive team.
