The AHL has issued a suspension following a hit earlier this week on Jack Rathbone of the Abbotsford Canucks. Rathbone, a defenceman who appears to have a bright future in the NHL, was left motionless on the ice for 13 minutes after getting boarded by Colton Sceviour of the Bakersfield Condors.

"The American Hockey League today announced that Bakersfield Condors forward Colton Sceviour has been suspended for two (2) games as a consequence of a boarding incident in a game vs. Abbotsford on Feb. 16.

Sceviour will miss Bakersfield's games Saturday (Feb. 19) vs. Stockton and Sunday (Feb. 20) at Stockton." - AHL news release."

Despite the hit , the amount of time Rathbone spent on the ice without moving, and being stretchered out of the arena, he was released from hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

"Jack was alert and responsive before being taken to a local hospital, following a hit that occurred during last night's game at Bakersfield. Jack was discharged from the hospital last night, and after being thoroughly assessed by physicians, he is expected to travel with the team today to Colorado." - Bakersfield Condors, Feb. 17th

Rathbone, 22, appears to be the obvious choice to get called up to the Vancouver Canucks should they need help on the blueline. He has 5 goals and 21 points in 19 games this season.
