Former Highly Regarded Prospect Retires From Hockey at 24

Edmonton Oiler prospect Noah Philp has decided to retire from hockey at the age of 24.

The right-handed centreman played last season in AHL Bakersfield, where he registered 19 goals and 37 points in 70 games.

Noah Philp was undrafted out of the WHL, before taking his talents to Canadian University hockey.

After two years with the University of Alberta, Philp signed with the Oilers where he cameoed in the AHL at the end of the 2021/2022 season, before playing full time in Bakersfield last year.

Oilers GM Ken Holland spoke about Philp's decision:

Holland also noted that Philp rejected a two-year contract extension in favor of retirement.

The Oilers can still issue a qualifying offer to retain the player's rights in case he come out of retirement in the future.
