Ritchie spent the 2022-23 season split between Arizona and Calgary. In 74 games Ritchie tallied 26 total points. Since being drafted 10 overall in 2014 Ritchie has spent his entire career in North America.

In total Ritchie has played 481 NHL games and gotten 186 points. The 27-year-old will be looking for a new home.

With his recent struggles at the NHL level, Nick Ritchie might have run out of NHL opportunities. This likely means he has 2 options going forward with his career.

The first option is he could sign an AHL contract and try and prove his worth in the American League while being a veteran presence. Option two is he could look to play in Europe in a professional league and rebuild his value that way.

For this season the AHL is more likely because teams in Europe have already started their regular season meaning most of their rosters are already set. Now that Ritchie is officially done with the Blues his situation will be one to monitor over the next few days.
