A former top prospect is ready to demand a trade to get a change of scenery and find a team that will give him his fair shot.

Robertson Ready To Request A Trade

In a recent rendition of 32 Thoughts from insider Elliotte Friedman, the top NHL insider suggested that Maple Leafs prospect Nick Robertson is ready to request a trade out of Toronto.
"Five points in two games as Nick Robertson starts his AHL season. It wasn't easy for him to go back to the Marlies, but all you can do is produce and he's started right. Apparently, it was pointed out to him that the Maple Leafs carry the minimum 12 forwards, so there will be opportunity for him if something happens. You can also see a situation where if this goes too long, he might ask for a fresh start." - Friedman

At one point, Robertson was one of the very best prospects in hockey having scored 55 goals in 46 OHL games in his DY+1.

An Injury Plagued Prospect

Robertson is one of those prospects where you just know that he would be a full-time NHLer if he was just able to stay healthy. He has gotten into NHL games in three different seasons but played in 6, 10, and 15 games respectively before being knocked out with an injury or being demoted.
Last year he got into 15 NHL games and 2 AHL games before having his season end prematurely. If he is able to stay healthy and gets a fresh start elsewhere, he could emerge as a true top-line player which any NHL team would want.
If the 2019 2nd-round pick is able to replicate what his brother, a 2nd-round pick in 2017, did, Robertson could emerge as the final top-line forward in Toronto alongside Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.
