The NHL's All-Star Weekend is only days away and according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, a five-time hardest shot winner may be attending Friday's skills competition.

"I think Zdeno Chara goes to All-Star. Not sure he's going to play, but compete in hardest shot and be around. Hope that's right, would be great," Friedman said in his 32 Thoughts article on Tuesday.

Chara, 44, has won the NHL's hardest shot competition a total of five times, with the most recent one coming in 2012 when it was hosted in Ottawa, Ontario. At the 2012 All-Star skills competition, Chara set the NHL record for hardest shot at 108.8 mph (175.1 km/h).

The Trencin, Slovakia native signed a one-year contract last summer to return to the team that drafted him all the way back in 1996, the New York Islanders. In 31 games this season, "Big Z" has two assists, sixty-four penalty minutes, and is a plus-three.
