On Monday, the Vancouver Canucks made history by hiring the first female, Émilie Castonguay, in franchise history to become their new assistant General Manager.

According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, the Canucks are down to five candidates for their vacant General Manager role and among those on the list is Tampa Bay's Director of Hockey Operations, Mathieu Darche.

"Add Mathieu Darche's name to the Vancouver GM search mix. Hearing that Darche interviewed and is among the final 5 Canucks GM candidates. Patrik Allvin, Scott Mellanby, Sean Burke also among final candidates. Obviously there's another candidate as well." LeBrun said.

Darche, 45, was hired by the Tampa Bay Lightning on May 6th, 2019 to become their new Director of Hockey Operations. Since Darche was brought in by the Lightning, they've gone on to win back-to-back Stanley Cups.

The other candidates as mentioned are Pittsburgh Penguins assitant General Manager Patrik Allvin, who has ties to Canucks interim GM, Jim Rutherford. Scott Mellanby was most recently Montreal's assistant General Manager but resigned because he wasn't in the running for the GM role. Sean Burke is also a candidate for Vancouver's job, with his most recent role being goaltending coach for the Montreal Canadiens last season.
