The Montreal Canadiens announced at the start of the second period on Monday night that forward Christian Dvorak won't return to the game following a hit to the head by Minnesota Wild captain Jared Spurgeon.

Dvorak was limited to two shifts in the game, with less than a minute of ice time. The Habs forward was trying to tie up Wild forward Joel Eriksson Ek while Cayden Primeau was covering up the puck. Just before the whistle is blown, Spurgeon skates towards the nets, leans into Dvorak and makes contact with his head.

The Palos Heights, Illinois native has appeared in 33 games for the Canadiens this season, recording sixteen points (seven goals, nine assists), twenty penalty minutes, and is a minus-eighteen.
