The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Monday that forward Teddy Blueger underwent successful surgery after having his jaw broken during Sunday's game against the Winnipeg Jets.

During the first period of Sunday's game, Blueger went to get the puck in Winnipeg's zone. Jets defenceman Brenden Dillon came in and delivered a big hit to Blueger, catching him in the face with his left shoulder. No penalty was called on the play, and Dillon didn't receive any supplemental discipline.

Dillon and Blueger have a bit of history too. Back in May 2021, the pair fought when Dillon was on the Washington Capitals. Blueger wasn't happy because Dillon started throwing punches before he could even get his gloves off.

"The surgery was performed by Dr. Brandon Humberger of UPMC Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. The forward is expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks." Pittsburgh said in a statement via their team website.

Blueger, 27, has appeared in 40 games this season for the Penguins, recording seventeen points (eight goals, nine assists), six penalty minutes, and is a plus-seven.
