After three straight years of being knocked out in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the Western Conference leading Colorado Avalanche will be looking to make some key additions ahead of March 21st's trade deadline.

On Monday's 32 Thoughts podcast, Sportsnet insiders Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek have linked Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux and Dallas Stars forward Joe Pavelski to the Colorado Avalanche.

"Colorado could use a right-hand shot, who couldn't use Claude Giroux? The biggest challenge I have with that is can you make the math work?

If Claude Giroux wants to go chase a Stanley Cup that's a team you go to, one, and two I see a fit there," Friedman said.

Giroux, 34, is in the final year of his contract and is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. In 38 games this season, the Hearst, Ontario native has 33 points (14 G, 19 A), 16 penalty minutes, and is a -8.

Pavelski, 37, is having a great season with the Dallas Stars. In 38 games, he's put up 43 points (16 G, 27 A), 8 penalty minutes, and is a +10.
