A few teams ''begging'' the Canadiens to trade Artturi Lehkonen

During the Daily Faceoff Rundown podcast, hockey insider Frank Seravalli said that he believes the biggest name the Montreal Canadiens will move ahead of March 21st's trade deadline is forward Artturi Lehkonen.

"I haven't had a chance to update my story yet, but the player I believe is the most in demand from the Montreal Canadiens is Artturi Lehkonen. Teams see Artturi Lehkonen as this year's version of Blake Coleman. You know, the scouting report on Artturi Lehkonen is he does just about everything in his game exceptionally well, except finish, which is ironic because he is Finnish. That's the guy team's are really after to get," Seravalli said.

He added, "I know at least three teams that are begging the Montreal Canadiens to try and get Artturi Lehkonen."

While it is possible, it's somewhat unlikely that the Canadiens would be able to get the same return the New Jersey Devils got from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Blake Coleman. The Devils got prospect Nolan Foote and a first round pick from Tampa Bay.

It's more likely that Montreal gets a second round pick and a mid-tier prospect for Lehkonen, although, if a team gets desperate and waits right until the deadline, it's possible general manager Kent Hughes could pry a first round pick in exchange for the Piikkio, Finland native.

One factor that is going to drive up the price to acquire Artturi Lehkonen is that he is under team control and will be a restricted free agent this summer. He has one year of team control left and is eligible for arbitration with a qualifying offer of $2.3 million.

In 37 games this season, Lehkonen has fifteen points (five goals, ten assists), twelve penalty minutes and is a minus-three.
