The New York Rangers are having a great season thus far. They're leading the Metropolitan Division with a record of 27-11-4 through 42 games, and are hoping to make a deep run in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

To aid with that potential run towards the Stanley Cup, they'll need to acquire some depth or maybe even high end talent. During the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night, Sportsnet insider Jeff Marek revealed that the New York Rangers have inquired about two names that have been in the rumour mill for the last little while, Boston Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk and Arizona Coyotes defenceman Jakob Chychrun.

Marek said that the Rangers have offered a package that is centered around disgruntled prospect, Vitali Kravtsov, who is currently playing in the KHL. He added that he doesn't know what else was involved in the offer.

Chychrun, along with his entire Coyotes roster, has struggled this season, but he's shown that he's more than capable of being a top pairing defencemen in the National Hockey League. In 29 games, the Boca Raton, Florida native has eight points (two goals, six assists), 30 penalty minutes and is a -31.

He also mentioned that the Rangers have inquired about Jake DeBrusk, but didn't say if they made an official offer yet or not.

DeBrusk, 25, requested a trade away from the Boston Bruins back in late November 2021. The Bruins have been trying to accommodate his request, while also trying to maximize the return they can get for him. The Edmonton, Alberta native would be a good fit on the Rangers' third line, adding some grit to their already tough bottom six forward group. In 33 games this season, DeBrusk has thirteen points (six goals, seven assists), two penalty minutes and is a minus-three.
