In an interview with CBC late last week, Enes Freedom of the Boston Celtics called on Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid to boycott the upcoming 2022 Winter Olympics in China.

Freedom has been critical of Xi Jinping's government in posts on social media, which has led to the country from banning all Boston Celtics games to be streamed in China.

"All the gold medals you can win in the world are not more important than your values, your principles," Freedom said. "They should not go. I understand these athletes are working so hard to get to that level. But sometimes there are bigger things than sports, there are bigger things than basketball or hockey."

Sidney Crosby and Connor McDavid were two of three players named to Canada's roster back in October when the 55-man long lists were due to be submitted to the IIHF.

As of yet, neither Crosby or McDavid have said anything regarding Freedom's comments late last week.
