According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Vancouver Canucks are set to announce the hiring of Bruce Boudreau as their new head coach.

This was quite a surprising announcement given that there has been no announcement of Travis Green being fired, but that appears to be the case. It isn't an overly surprising decision given that the Canucks have really struggled in 2021-22, as they currently have a record of 8-15-2. One interesting thing to note, however is that, according to Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal, general manager Jim Benning will remain in his current role.

In Boudreau, the Canucks are getting a well respected head coach who has won 567 games in his coaching career. The 66-year-old was last in the NHL during the 2019-20 season with the Minnesota Wild. He has also coached the Washington Capitals and the Anaheim Ducks.
