Devils poke fun at themselves on Twitter after mixed reactions to their new third jersey design
The New Jersey Devils, fresh off of the announcement that they'll debut a black third jersey this season, designed by all-time Devils legend Martin Brodeur, have taken a bit of heat over the simplicity of the design with hockey fans taking liberties on the new tarps all in the name of laughs.
The third jerseys, if you have yet to see them are all black with white accents and the word "Jersey" embroidered across the front. You can see the finished product below.
Since the images of the jersey were leaked, folks have taken to their favourite photo editing software to have some fun with Brodeur's design, offering up additional product ideas of their own.
Some even thought that the jersey design was very similar to a black jersey that the Chicago Blackhawks have in their rotation.
On Tuesday afternoon, the New Jersey Devils decided to have some fun at their own expense, sharing a picture of a baseball cap to match the jersey.
Talk about steering into the skid! I know that it's a gag and the hats are probably not going to see the light of day, but they are low key awesome.
