After an apparent rift had begun to show between Minnesota Wild forward Kevin Fiala and head coach Dean Evason after the Swiss winger had scored just 2 goals through the team's first 17 games, speculation began to swirl that the Wild could look to move Fiala at some point this season.

On the most recent edition of the 32 Thoughts Podcast, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman addressed the rumour, stating that he does not believe that the Wild would trade Fiala simply because he isn't performing up to the team's expectation.

"I don't think he's going to trade Fiala because Fiala is going through a slump, if he's trading him he's doing it because he thinks it makes them better," said Friedman.

Fiala, who was drafted 11th overall by the Nashville Predators back in 2014, was apparently a challenging prospect for the Preds to manage, according to Sportsnet's Jeff Marek, which ultimately led to GM David Poile trading him to Minnesota in February of 2019.

Even with the fact that Fiala has already been moved once for presenting unique challenges, Friedman does not necessarily believe that Wild GM Bill Guerin will take a similar approach to Poile, moving the 25-year-old.

"He's very confident in himself, there's no questioning that, sometimes it rubs people the wrong way, but whatever, I'd rather have someone believe in themselves than not".

Fiala has led the Wild in scoring over the last two seasons. Through 18 games this season, Fiala has notched just 3 goals and 12 points.
