Chicago Blackhawks forward Adam Gaudette is still looking to find his footing in the NHL, but the 25-year-old is confident that he will find an expanded role soon.

«I'm still waiting for a bigger role, opportunity,» Gaudette said Wednesday. «I know I can do it, but it's just a matter of earning the trust with the coaches.»

Gaudette has just 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) in 8 games with the Hawks this season, but his production is also in direct correlation of him being in the bottom-six of the lineup. If he were given more minutes, then maybe his stats would also look better.

Even though he has not received the role that he is looking for, he is making sure to not get discouraged. In fact, he has found a couple new rituals to help himself stay calm and confident. He has turned to his wife's side of the family for help, as they introduced him to carrying crystals as well as performing saging cleanses in order to help keep his confidence up.

«Crystals belief system, why? My wife's side of the family, her and her mom, are very, very in touch with their spirituality and the palm readings and stuff like that. Her mom's kind of got a sixth sense. I didn't believe it at first. I thought it was a bunch of bull, to be honest, but I believe it's real now. Carrying around certain crystals and saging with different types of herbs and stuff, it gives you that extra little confidence that there's something else out there that gives you energy. There's something else out there that's a higher power that you can't see, but you can feel. It's new to me and I'm trying to figure it out, but I like it. It gives me a sense of calming and puts my mind at ease. Yesterday, I was feeling really, really good after the saging and cleansing of our home inside. My confidence just felt a lot better. It's definitely something that could be utilized by guys. I'm not sure how other people feel about it; it's definitely something different, and I don't think a lot of guys do it. But it helps me and I'm going to keep doing it.»

The Blackhawks will be back in action on Friday versus the Arizona Coyotes.
