Alex Ovechkin is 36, on the last legs of his career by normal hockey standards. But, the Great 8 is not only showing no signs of slowing down, he's having his best start in years.

During Thursday night's game against the Florida Panthers, Ovechkin casually sniped a wrister past Spencer Knight in the final minutes of the second period for goal 740. He's now one goal away from tying Brett Hull for fourth all-time in NHL goals. Two more and he'll stand alone, chasing Jaromir Jagr for third all-time (768). Ovi has 18 points in 10 games so far this season. 10 of those points are goals.

With a goal and two assists in the second period, Ovechkin recorded his 400th career multi-point game, passing Denis Savard for the 24th-most multi-point games in NHL history. He also recorded his 600th assist.
