New York's asking price for Vitali Kravtsov revealed

During the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Jeff Marek revealed that New York Rangers' general manager Chris Drury is asking for a top prospect in return for 2018 first round pick Vitali Kravtsov.

Kravtsov didn't make the Rangers' opening night roster, and was granted permission to speak with other teams about a trade as he didn't want to be sent down to New York's AHL affiliate in Hartford.

"He's in Russia right now, awaiting a trade, refusing assignment to AHL Hartford, so I called around to find out what general manager Chris Drury could be looking for in a trade for this player, and what I got back was a top prospect," Jeff Marek said. "And he is not budging from that right now."

Several developments have arose in this case between the Rangers and Kravtsov since the season began. As Jeff Marek mentioned, he returned to Russia and is skating. He also is reportedly open to playing in the American Hockey League, but with a different team, wanting to move on completely from the Rangers organization.

Then this week, according to Elliotte Friedman, head coach Gerard Gallant called Kravtsov asking him to consider returning to Rangers.

The Vladivostok, Russia native has played a total of twenty games in the NHL, all of which came last season. In those twenty games, he's put up four points (two goals, two assists), four penalty minutes, and is a minus-six.

If he's not coming back to suit up with them, the New York Rangers are demanding a top prospect in exchange for Vitali Kravtsov.
