The Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Josh Ho-Sang have identified a mutual fit during Ho-Sang's professional try-out and it has resulted in a contract for the 25-year-old in Toronto.

The only kicker here is that Ho-Sang's new deal is an AHL contract, rather than an NHL contract - so Ho-Sang would need to sign an NHL contract before he could be called up to the big club.

The benefit of signing Ho-Sang to an AHL deal is an obvious one. With an AHL deal in place, the Leafs would not need to place the skilled winger on waivers to assign him to the Marlies.

While not quite a Cinderella story for Ho-Sang, the door definitely remains open for a return to the Leafs at some point this season should an injury occur or a performance-based demotion be deemed necessary, creating an opening with the big club.

Nevertheless, Ho-Sang appeared to be one of the more interesting potential reclamation project stories this summer. It's nice to see him rewarded for his hard work.
