The Nashville Predators announced on Monday that assistant coach Todd Richards suffered a heart attack late last week.

"Nashville Predators Assistant Coach Todd Richards suffered a heart attack on Friday, Oct. 1 and has been away from the team since that time. Todd has been released from the hospital, returned to his home in Nashville and is resting comfortably. He is expected to make a complete recovery. We will offer an update on his return to the team when we have more information," the Predators said via their public relations Twitter account.

Richards, 54, has coached in the NHL ever since the 2008-09 season when he was an assistant for the San Jose Sharks. He was then named the head coach of the Minnesota Wild for the 2009-10 season. Following his stint with the Wild, he spent six seasons in Columbus, five as head coach, four years with Tampa Bay, and last season with Nashville. Richards won the Stanley Cup as an assistant with Tampa Bay during the 2019-20 season.

Get well soon, Todd.
