Vancouver Canucks fans were thrilled last week when it was announced that both Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes had signed extensions with the team.

One area of concern however was the fact that Pettersson signed for just three years. Fans were hoping to lock the 22-year-old star forward up for longer, and according to his agent JP Barry, they wanted that to happen as well.

«We looked hard at a five-year deal for Pettersson,» Barry said. «He likes Vancouver and wants to stay.»

This is great news for Canucks fans, as the three-year term suggested to some he was unsure about his own future with the organization. Since entering the league in 2018-19, he has become one of the game's brightest young stars, and has an impressive 65 goals and 153 points in just 165 games.
