Newly-filed court documents concerning Evander Kane of the San Jose Sharks contain new and very serious accusations against the 30-year-old forward. The documents, filed on Tuesday, deal with Kane's divorce from his estranged wife Anna and include accusations of physical and sexual assault.
In the filing, Anna Kane states the couple's daughter was born in March of 2019 at 28-weeks, and died. She says she was devastated, and remained in hospital for about a week after losing a lot of blood. After returning home and attending the funeral, she claims Kane became violent with her.
"We obviously could not engage in sexual intercourse. Evander forced me to perform oral sex on him by grabbing me by my hair, roughly twisting it around his hand and forcing my head onto his penis," the documents claim. "I was crying and Evander called me a 'pathetic loser and a stupid bitch'. A few days later, Evander forced me, against my will, to have sexual intercourse with him even though I had not healed. When I protested, Evander stated 'you can't rape your wife.'"
Anna Kane also alleges Evander "lost almost one million dollars" gambling in May 2019 as the Sharks played the Vegas Golden Knights in the playoffs. (Sharks won that series in 7 games.) He allegedly assaulted Anna Kane after one of those playoff games.

"...Unknown to me at the time, Evander was gambling and avoiding me telling me he had to 'work.' I later learned that 'work' meant he was gambling, not working in his hockey career. I believe on this occasion, Evander lost almost one million dollars in gambling losses. After one of playoff games the Sharks lost in this series, Evander did come to see me after the game. Evander smelled alcohol on my breath from the wine I had with the other wives at dinner. When we got back to our hotel room, Evander began screaming at me and punching me on the upper side of my head above the hair line. Evander grabbed my blouse forcefully and pushed me into the wall of the room, slapping me across my face. Evander was screaming at me and threatened to hurt me even worse if I 'disobeyed' him and had any drinks without him."
If the court documents, obtained by Front Office Sports, contain any truth, this will be extremely difficult for the NHl to ignore or attempt to sweep under the rug. FOS reached out to the NHL Tuesday night for a statement, but a spokesperson refused to comment. Kane's lawyer could not be reached. FOS states there is no criminal investigation into the accusations made by Anna Kane.
"This is all in family court as part of a divorce proceeding," said A.J. Perez of FOS. "Anna Kane filed for divorce in July. Evander Kane was granted a restraining order, in part, per court documents previously reviewed by FOS."
Kane has alleged that his wife assaulted him "multiple times" in the past.
Anna Kane didn't delve into sports betting in her filing for a domestic for a violence restraining order application filed in San Jose on Tuesday.
She did, however, lay out some very disturbing allegations. This below is the most gruesome in the docs. pic.twitter.com/0aHW3K1yu6— A.J. Perez (@byajperez) September 22, 2021

Note: Evander Kane listed $1.5 million in gambling losses in his January bankruptcy filings.
My Vegas sources tell me that it's largely — if not — completely — linked to poker. He not only owes casinos money, but apparently multiple high-profile poker players.— A.J. Perez (@byajperez) September 22, 2021
