While doing an interview on Tim and Friends on Monday afternoon, Jack Hughes appeared to take a shot at the Vancouver Canucks when asked about the criticism his brother, Quinn, received last season.

«Quinn, he's deserving of the money he should get,» Hughes said. «He's had two pretty good years. I know last year people were talking about his defence and his dashes, but when you play on one of the worst teams in the division and in the league that's bound to happen.»

Whether or not Hughes meant to use the exact wording he did is unknown, but the quote has certainly got plenty of attention since being made. In all honesty, he is right about his brother having two good years with the Canucks. In his first season, he recorded 53 points in 68 games, which is fantastic numbers for any player let alone a rookie defencemen. He was nominated for the Calder Trophy as a result of the great year. He followed it up with 41 points in 56 games this past season, but had an ugly plus/minus of minus24. That should improve this season as the Canucks project to be a better team than they were in 2020-2021.
