Arizona Coyotes star defenseman Jakob Chychrun was put into some controversy on Monday night as rumors circulated that he could be involved in trade talks over the course of next season.

This was a very surprising developing story, especially for the d-man who had quite the breakout year with 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points in just 56 games. He emerged as the Coyotes top defenseman and with good reason.

The tweet reporting that the 23-year-old was on the trade block was recently deleted, and Coyotes insider Craig Morgan reported that Jakob Chychrun is indeed not on the trade block. In fact, the team plans on building around him, as they should.

The Coyotes are in a bit of a messy spot in their rebuild, but they have a plethora of draft picks to hopefully build a contending team in the near future. Of course, they will need their key players to continue producing, and hopefully they will be able to compete for the Stanley Cup.
