For those that have been following Connor Bedard, who is draft eligible in 2023 and likely to go first overall, here's another name to keep an eye on. 16-year-old Matvei Michkov is playing in the KHL this season and seems well on his way to making a big impact and keeping his name firmly in the conversation to go number two in 2023.

Michkov scored two goals and an assist for SKA St. Petersburg as the team stomped Admiral Vladivostok 9-2. His first was scored on the powerplay around midway through the third period.

Late in the third, Michkov added another goal.

Michkov should have no problem breaking the KHL's under-18 points record, which is currently held by Vladimir Tarasenko. He had 10 points (7 G, 3 A) in 38 games. Michkov's three points Monday were his first in three games. He is noted for having a wicked wrist shot and being an excellent skater. While Bedard will likely be the focus of the 2023 draft, Michkov seems poised to create a buzz of his own.
