Former first-round pick Marko Dano has found a new, temporary home for the start of the 2021-22 season. He's agreed to terms on a two-month contract with HC Ocelari Trinec in the Czech Extraliga. The deal also comes with an option to extend for the entire 2021-22 season.

Dano was a restricted free agent following the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, but the Winnipeg Jets decided not to tender him a qualifying offer, thus making him unrestricted.

"We lost players who played key roles in the Trinec team before the season. We already announced in August that we were looking for another player to add to our roster, and we believe that we made a good decision here. Marko is a quality forward who is strong on the puck, goes to the net and wins battles. He is also a very strong skater," said coach Václav Varaďa.

Dano, 25, was drafted in the first round by Columbus back in 2013. He's spent parts of six seasons in the NHL with Columbus, Chicago, Winnipeg, and Colorado where he tallied 45 points (19 G, 26 A), 49 penalty minutes, and was a +1 in 141 regular season games.
