Sidney Crosby gets brutally honest about his team after blowing 2-0 lead to the Vancouver Canucks
Sidney Crosby has already made history. A member of the 1600-point club, a three-time Stanley Cup Champion, and more, he will be enshrined in hockey forever.
The trio of himself, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang have been together for the better part of two decades, and are true legends in the city of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, more and more, it seems that the glory days are fading for the Pittsburgh Penguins, as general manager Kyle Dubas desperately tries to make things work.
Last night, the Penguins were off to a good start, getting up to a 2-0 lead against the Vancouver Canucks, but ultimately lost the game, something that seldom would've been seen in Sidney Crosby's prime. The revered captain is very hard on himself, but deflected the blame on the team as a whole last night in his post-game interview, highlighting the teams bad habit of allowing momentum against them to build up.
«We had a good third, so try to build off of that - that urgency, that desperation. For most of the game we did a lot of good things. We've got to find a way to not to allow momentum or chances to add up and pile up and make that the difference in the game, because we're working too hard to generate other chances to do good things to give it away like that.»
In a separate interview, with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Crosby reiterated that there cannot be a tolerance for continued mistakes:
«We just can't chase a mistake with another one. There's got to be a certain awareness when we do give up one. We've got to follow it up with a good shift or at least get the momentum back and try to counter that."
With Sidney Crosby having signed a two-year $17.4 million extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season, it is clear he still has faith in the team and organization, but it is possible his undying loyalty was misplaced.
If this is it for Sidney Crosby, one of greatest and most consistent playoff performers of all time, it will be a legacy of leadership and passion, but we all hope that there is another run in the books for the veteran Sid The Kid.
