The NHL season is in full swing with the Frozen Frenzy officially here, and with the league facing backlash for a scheduling call, they've now changed several games.
With such a long season, Gary Bettman and the NHL have clearly shown flexibility in changing their schedule, as they've done so several times throughout the years to a solid reception from the fans. While Bettman is facing plenty of backlash for his decision making behind the Frozen Frenzy's head-to-head with the return of the NBA, on Tuesday, the league announced changes to four games in the coming months.
Game #230, Dallas Stars at Winnipeg Jets, scheduled for Nov. 9, will now begin at 2 p.m. CT.
Game #619, Nashville Predators at Vancouver Canucks, scheduled for Jan. 3, will now begin at 7 p.m. PT.
Game #621, Detroit Red Wings at Winnipeg Jets, scheduled for Jan. 4, will now begin at 6 p.m. CT.
Game #627, Nashville Predators at Calgary Flames, scheduled for Jan. 4, will now begin at 8 p.m. MT.
No explanation was officially given by the league, as the games all take place between November and January, but given that all four games are hosted by Canadian teams in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Calgary, it's safe to say that may have something to do with the move.
None of the games have changed date, as they simply all moved times and remained on the same day, with the league clearly wanting to be proactive for whatever reason that was behind the changes. While viewership may be down throughout the league to start the season, Bettman and the NHL are clearly excited about the way the league is heading, and with such a dedicated and loyal fanbase, they're no doubt thrilled with the excitement around the league right now.
Ultimately, these are all very minor changes and won't effect anyone in any way, so if you're planning on tuning into these games or even attending, be sure to take note of the time changes, with the NHL providing plenty of time to accommodate those changes.
