The NHL is still in mourning after the passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, and now everyone in the league will pay tribute throughout the season.

This off-season has been filled with plenty of ups and downs in the NHL, but nothing was more tragic than the sudden and shock passing of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, which shook everyone in the NHL. Since that point, the entire league and the fans have been celebrating the life of two amazing young men, and after both Johnny's current and former team paid tribute, now the entire NHL will too.

While the Blue Jackets and Flames were set up to wear tributes to both men on their helmets this year, now, it's been announced that the entire NHL will follow suit, in an announcement made on X by NHL reporter Dan Rosen.

According to Rosen, every player in the league will wear a sticker on their helmet with '13', '21' and a 'G' on it to honour two amazing men that were so beloved not only in the NHL and by their families, but by everyone they met. While the sudden shock of the passing has faded, the tragedy has not, as the families of both men will now go on without their father, brother, husband, son and grandson, but in the NHL world, the memory of both will live on forever.

Johnny played for both Calgary and Columbus throughout his tenure, with tributes pouring in from both fan bases throughout the off-season, so it's great to see that the NHL also want to pay tribute to the brothers, with this simple but touching tribute a good way to honour them throughout the season.
