The Edmonton Oilers will be without Evander Kane to start the season, and now the veteran forward has made his first comments since a successful surgery.

This off-season has been a long one for Evander Kane, but even after fighting to rehab his injuries through rest, it just wasn't enough, and ultimately, he revealed in a recent interview that he would need to undergo a major surgery.
That surgery has now officially taken place, and while Kane didn't make much comment about a potential return to the ice, he did graciously thank those professionals that took care of him, while revealing that he has a long road ahead.
Successful surgery, long road ahead but very greatful for my amazing surgeons and nurses.

One Doctor from the University of British Columbia revealed that the injuries Kane suffered simply had no comparable in the sports world when it comes to getting repaired by surgery, and unfortunately for Edmonton, predicted that he would be out for a long time, with a chance that he may not return at all next season. Now that it's taken place however, we may learn more in the coming days and weeks about what the future holds for the controversial forward, with the Oilers potentially having some big decisions to make about the forward group in the absence of the veteran Kane.
Regardless, the road ahead will be long and full of tough rehab for Kane, but with the hope of helping Edmonton back to the top of the mountain, he'll be optimistic that he can return in 2024/25 sometime.
