Cal Foote, one of the charged members of the 2018 WJC scandal, signed a contract in the Slovakian National League amid the legal process.

Earlier this year, the hockey world finally got to see who the players associated with the 2018 edition of Team Canada at the World Junior Championship accused in the massive scandal were.
In total, five players were arrested and are now facing charges: Philadelphia Flyers' Carter Hart, New Jersey Devils' Cal Foote and Ryan McLeod, Calgary Flames' Dillon Dube, and Ottawa Senators' Alex Formenton.
While it was widely believed that all of these players' hockey careers would be over, something happened that confirmed they might stay in the professional hockey scene.
Indeed, Cal Foote signed a contract in the Slovakian National League.
Puck Empire shared the news on Instagram with the following post:

Foote, 25, was drafted 14th overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2017. The 6'5" defenseman will bring his 145 NHL games of experience to the Slovakian League, likely hoping to stay in shape to eventually return to the NHL, or simply continue to play while he awaits the end of the legal process.
His future in North America remains uncertain, but it would be surprising to see the NHL allowing him back into its ranks, considering what he did.
