Recent rumours emerged over the reactions of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl to the Oilers summer offer sheets, but now they've clarified their reactions.

This off-season has been a wild one for the Edmonton Oilers, with many free agent picks and speculation surrounding their top names, but it was the offer sheets tendered by the St. Louis Blues for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg that shocked the NHL world. Plenty was said in the media after the Oilers officially decided not to match the deals, but it was the Blues Robert Thomas that perhaps had the most interesting comment, as he revealed that the Oilers two big stars were angry when the news came down.
However, both McDavid and Draisaitl have now clarified what happened, and instead state they were just shocked, rather than upset.
It appears as though Thomas interpreted their reactions in a very different way to how the two players did, but no one can blame them for being shocked, as not one but two offer sheets being signed at the same time by one team isn't something you'll see every summer. Now, the Oilers have to move on without two young depth players on dirt cheap contracts, but with McDavid and Draisaitl leading the way, they will be a good chance of going one step further in 2024/25 after falling just minutes short of their first Stanley Cup since 1990 this past season.
