Just weeks after Jeff Marek was fired by Sportsnet, the network has just let go of another, this time, Christine Simpson being the unlucky one.

Rogers Sportsnet is losing another popular personality as Christine Simpson announced that she's no longer with the channel.

A career-beginning hockey reporter since 1998, Christine Simpson was a fan favorite as part of the Sportsnet stable of reporters on Hockey Night in Canada. She's had some memorable interviews over the years with the NHL's biggest stars.
This departure is the latest high-profile exit for Sportsnet, after the removal of Jeff Marek earlier this summer. That had been linked to a report that he leaked information about players from the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Since then, Marek hasn't popped up elsewhere in the hockey media, but he did indicate he's looking for a new opportunity. In the meantime, Kyle Bukauskas has been announced to fill in for Marek on the 32 Thoughts podcast with Elliotte Friedman.
The moment Christine Simpson made her announcement, speculation began that she was off to a new opportunity, while others began to fear the worst, that she was outright fired. Only time will tell what is in store for her.
Speaking of exits at Sportsnet, there is a list starting to grow regarding who might be next, including Ron MacLean. He has two years left on his contract, but people appear ready for a change, it would seem.
Many of us grew up watching Ron and Don Cherry every Saturday night, and at the time, people loved Ron's role as Cherry's straight man, but he seems a bit worn out these days, constantly recycling the same stories.
But this time, it was Christine Simpson who hung up the skates, or had them thrown away, as fans and colleagues alike took to social media to wish her all the best in her next chapter.
