One of the five charged members of the 2018 WJC scandal Michael McLeod has signed a contract in Russia.

At the end of the NHL season, many reports indicated that Michael McLeod was getting another shot at his hockey career despite having been charged with a guilty count, amongst many others, including Carter Hart, Cal Foote, Alex Formenton and Dillon Dube.

The Kontinental hockey League is known for taking NHL players who have been convicted of crimes with examples such as Alex Galchenyuk, and Dillon Dube. An NHL job for Michael McLeod remains practically impossible until the case is dismissed, or he is convicted not guilty. McLeod and the others have all pleaded not guilty to the case against them.

McLeod, 26 years and was selected in the first round, 12th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He has recorded a total of 10 goals and 9 assists for a total of 19 points in 45 games in the NHL.
