Following a weak season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, former $5 million player Colin White may be done in the NHL.

In 2015, forward Colin White seemed like a star in the making. Eligible for the NHL Draft in the same year as Connor McDavid, White became the Ottawa Senators' second pick in the first round at 21st overall, only three spots behind Thomas Chabot.
"Today in #Sens history, 2015:

The Ottawa Senators selected Thomas Chabot 18th overall, followed by Colin White three picks later. #NHLDraft"
At the height of his playing, White posted 41 total points in 71 games played. However, he has failed to produce anywhere near that standard, only having one other 20-point season under his belt. Understandably, by the time he had the chance to play with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he had to be claimed off waivers by the Montreal Canadiens,, playing 17 more games in a pointless season.
"The #GoHabsGo have claimed F Colin White off waivers from the #LetsGoPens."
Colin White is once again left on the free agent list. However, given his inability to play up to the level of most first-round picks, many believe he will remain without an NHL team for the foreseeable future.

With little to show for his time in the NHL but underproduction and waiver placement, it would not be a surprise if Colin White is done in the NHL. However, should he get another season, hopefully he can kick his game up a few notches and return to performing as he did during his best year in Ottawa.
